TransCAER

Vision

The Toronto TransCAER initiative is recognized as a benchmark by chemical shippers, carriers, first responders and the community.  We have an understanding and mutual respect for each others roles and responsibilities.  We know the nature of Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulated shipments through Toronto and use this information to jointly prepare for emergencies involving these materials.  Knowledge of hazards, associated risks and plans to prevent and respond to emergencies are shared with interested members of the community.

Our Mission

  • To provide ongoing support in training to the city's First Responders - police, fire departments, ambulance services and any other interested parties.

  • To provide public awareness of TransCAER activities in Toronto.

Objectives

  • Meet with the appropriate personnel in the police, fire department, ambulance services and any other interested parties in person at least once per year to review the First Responders requirements.  Provide support in training as requested.

  • Solicit the member companies of the CCPA annually to review classes, volumes and modes of TDG regulated products they are transporting through the City of Toronto to keep the First Responders informed.

  • Follow-up annually with the City of Toronto to learn if there are any new designated truck routes or hazardous shipment routes.

  • Request other CCPA member companies assist in training when specific product training is requested by the First Responders.

  • Advise the community of the TransCAER activities.
